  • Hot foods and liquids – coffee and spicy soups
  • Acidic foods – oranges and tomatoes
  • Spicy foods – hot peppers and salsa
  • Chewy foods – gummies and bagels
  • Sticky foods – taffy and caramel
  • Crunchy foods – popcorn and chips
  • Tough foods – steak and raw vegetables

What to Eat the Day After Your Dental Implant Procedure

Once the dental implant has been placed successfully, the teeth and the jaw will be in a delicate state. With that in mind, it is vital that you stick to a soft diet first, at least during the first 24 hours after your procedure. If you have no idea what to prepare, the following foods should make your list:

  • Cold soups – While it’s vital that you avoid hot foods and liquids for the time being, you can still enjoy cold soups like gazpacho.
  • Smoothies – Smoothies are filing, nutritious, and packed with essential vitamins that can help restore your energy. What makes smoothies even more ideal is you won’t have to chew them.
  • Applesauce – Since biting an apple should be avoided at least a few days after the procedure, applesauce can be a wonderful alternative. Applesauce can provide some much-needed nutrients without harming your implants.

When drinking liquids, it is ideal that you avoid using straws for a few weeks. The suction force when using a straw can put pressure on the tooth implant and can delay the healing process. It is also recommended that you avoid smoking or drinking alcohol at least a few days after the procedure.

As the jaw continues to heal completely, it is recommended that you slowly introduce solid foods into your diet. Foods that are rich in protein and other important nutrients are considered ideal as it can help speed up your recovery process. Some of the foods you can eat include:

  • Eggs – Eggs are not only filled with protein, they are also easy to chew. Consider mixing them with vegetables and you will enjoy a well-balanced and nutritious meal.
  • Potatoes – If you want to put some variety in your meal, adding potatoes is a good idea. Potatoes are very versatile and they can be prepared in different ways.
  • Fish, chicken, and ground beef – If you would like to introduce meat back to your diet, start with the softer variety such as chicken, fish, and ground beef. You can also mix them with salads and pastas for a more delicious meal.
